St. Polycarp School recognizes parents as the primary educators of their children and the community at large as an integral part of St. Polycarp’s support system. Our parents are partners with the teachers in the education of their child. Parents are kept informed and are able to keep the lines of communication open through Gradelink grading and reporting system, phone calls, St. Polycarp’s School website, assignment books, progress reports, conferences, and student learning assessments. Our parents promote a positive partnership through their support with homework, long term assignments, and reading logs.

Parents are kept informed of school events and important news through our weekly newsletter, “The Ship to Shore”. Contents of these weekly papers include but are not limited to a personal message from the principal, important reminders, fundraising information, flyers from the community, monthly calendars, and student recognition announcements. Newsletters are also available in the rectory and the vestibule of the church.

Parents are directly connected to our students’ spiritual development. Through sacramental preparation, attendance at our monthly Family Masses, and support of the religion program, parents participate in their child’s faith development. The many forms of community service projects sponsored by the school involve our families in various ways. These include, but are not limited to collecting canned food for St. Vincent De Paul Society, bringing in Pennies for the Red Cross, Participating in Locks for Love and Jump-Rope-for-Heart, and collecting blankets for the Family Support Center.
